Create Shopify return requests automatically
From the Professional plan, Revoq can automatically create a return request in Shopify for a verified withdrawal. The actual return handling – acceptance, shipping label, refund – stays with you in Shopify.
This is especially handy for already-shipped orders: instead of manually creating the return in Shopify, Revoq takes this step for you. For how this fits into the whole flow, see the overview What happens after a withdrawal.
A return request is not a refund
This is the most important point: a return request is only the return request in Shopify – the starting point of the return process. It is not a refund.
Revoq creates the request. Everything else runs through your normal Shopify return workflow:
- You accept the return request in Shopify
- You create (if desired) a shipping label for the customer
- You wait for the goods to arrive
- You trigger the refund manually in Shopify
This way you keep full control and don't risk a refund before you have the goods back.
The individual steps in Shopify are documented here:
- Creating and processing returns and exchanges (Shopify)
- Refunding orders (Shopify)
Setting it up

- In your Revoq admin, go to Settings → App & Automation.
- Enable Automatic return requests.
- Save.
When the return request is created
The automation triggers only when all conditions are met:
- The withdrawal was finally confirmed (not a draft)
- The order is verified
- The feature is enabled
- No linked Shopify return request yet exists for this order
Are customers notified?
Further communication with the customer runs through Shopify – according to your Shopify return settings and notifications. As soon as you accept the return request, create a label, or trigger the refund, Shopify can notify the customer automatically.
